Returning to the stage in the spring of April 17, 2009 at Studio 54 will be Bob Fosse’s Broadway musical, Dancin’. Directing the return of the Broadway musical will be multiple Tony Nominee Graciela Daniele, from Bernarda Alba, Ragtime and The Rink.

Ann Reinking, Tony award winner for Fosse’s Chicago will serve as artistic director and Kathryn Doby of Dancin’ and Sweet Charity will recreate the original Fosse choreography. Nicole Fosse will be advising the creative team on her father’s revival of his musical masterpiece.

The Broadway musical reproduction will include additional Bob Fosse numbers never seen before on stage. The original production opened on March 27, 1978 at the Broadhurst Theatre. On November 30, 1978 the show transferred to the Ambassador Theatre and had a total of 1,774 prerformances.

Fosse sought to create a tribute to the art of dance drawing inspiration from pop culture and various types of music and motion. The score from the Broadway musical is made of a collection of mostly American songs from a wide array of styles including opera, jazz and classical as well as popular recording stars such as Neil Diamond and Cat Stevens.
