I had the privilege of attending a stage performance of Les Miserables, a few years ago. It was absolutely amazing, the scenery and costumes were incredible. This was done on quite a bit smaller stage than the Broadway musical stages but the effects were astounding. I have never had the opportunity to go to a Broadway musical in the actual city of New York but I have several family members who have had the exciting experience.
Les Miserables is just one of the fantastic plays that has come from the Broadway musical society. A girlfriend of mine was able to see a version of Mamma Mia that she raved about for days. Again it was not a Broadway musical performed on Broadway but it was a Broadway musical version for a smaller setting. Even though we are not able to actually see the Broadway musical performed on the original stages, I am glad that efforts are made to bring these plays to different parts of the country. That way more of us get to appreciate the stories and talents of popular, famous artists.
