
Global Broadway Productions Inc. is about to bring more Broadway musicals to town. Theater producers, Ben Sprecher and Louise Forlenza have created this company to produce new musicals for Broadway, the road and international stages. The rights to three new musicals have a small number of deep pocketed investors backing them.Little House on the Prairie is the company’s first musical. The previews have been sold out. The musical will have its world premiere in Minneapolis on August 15. Discussions are underway to make Little House on the Prairie, a Broadway musical in the near future.
Rebecca is the next musical, which is based on the book by Daphne Du Maurier and an Alfred Hitchcock film. This is originally a European musical. Global Broadway has purchased the English speaking rights and will open the show in the 2009-2010 Broadway season. Rebecca is expected to be a $15 million musical.
Havanna is the next up. The new musical is based on the days leading up to Fidel Castro’s Cuban takeover. It is planned to debut as a Broadway musical in the fall of 2010 and will cost between $15 to$20 million to produce.
Broadway Musical Productions will certainly bring fresh material to the Broadway stages!
