mamma mia, broadway musical

When I first heard about Mamma Mia, the Broadway musical cobbled together from a thin storyline based on a string of tunes by ABBA, the Swedish rock sensation of the 70s and 80s, all I could do was groan, thinking that Mamma Mia would crash and burn in a spectacular way. But, I'm pleased to say that I was wrong. Mamma Mia has turned out to be a smash Broadway musical, and it is such a smash that there are currently dozens of road show productions of Mamma Mia all over the world, from regional theaters in places like Albany, New York to Glasgow, Scotland. Mamma Mia has exceeded expectations to become one of the biggest new Broadway musical productions of last year. It's right up there with huge hits like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Evita, and all of the other biggest Broadway musical shows of the last couple of decades. Personally, I am amazed at what a cross-cultural phenomenon Mamma Mia has become. So, if you make it to New York City, or there is a production of Mamma Mia in your home town, then I highly recommend that you get tickets for this terrifically entertaining show.
