Sweeney Todd, the Broadway show is known as one of the darkest musicals ever written. The Broadway music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim and the book is written by Hugh Wheeler. It was first presented on Broadway at the Uris Theatre, March 1, 1979 starring Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou. This Broadway musical ran 557 performances and won 6 tonys including “Best Musical”, “Best Actor in a Musical”, and “Best Actress in a Musical”.

Sweeney Todd, the Broadway Musical is the story about a grisly revenge by Benjamin Barker, a man unjustly imprisoned by a lecherous judge. Barker returns as a barber, Sweenet Todd and exacts revenge.
This former Broadway Musical has also been made into a movie starring Johnny Depp and will be released in December 21, 2007.
